Christmas Countdown #3

Over the past two weeks, we have been doing and activity the Christmas Countdown. There is a google drawing that has four doors on it and each door has three activities the Rudolf level, the Elf level, and the Santa level. I have done the Rudolf level on door number four. The hardest part was going over the snowflakes with polyline which is a thing on google drawings that makes it easier to trace over things.

Christmas Countdown #2.

For my second Christmas Countdown activity, I have done the Rudolf level on door number 2. The hardest part was going over it in Polyline, and the easiest part was filling them in with the right colours.

Christmas Countdown #1.

For the past four days, I have been working on my Christmas Countdown I have done the wrapping paper which was on door four and I did the elf level. The hardest part was tracing over them and the easiest part was putting them all over the place.

Survivor.

Fire making

First, for our fire, we dug a hole in the ground and then we made a teepee with some sticks in our troops. Each group had a go at making the teepee and trying to make a spark using a flint. After that, we all came together and made a circle around the pit to see if Mrs. Kennedy could light the fire.

Orienteering

For our orienteering, we split up into our troops, we got passed a map of our school by Miss. Sowden. Then we had to find a triangle on the map and then try and find it in real life. and every mark in real life had a letter and when we had finished the end, we had to unscramble the letters to try and make out what the word was.

Cooking

For cooking, we made baked potatoes with cheese and ham inside them and banana with chocolate chips and marshmallows inside. For cooking the baked potatoes we had to cut the tops off and do crisscrossing lines along the inside we then put grated cheese and the already cut-up ham in the inside and then put the lid on and wrapped it in tin foil and put our names on them. For the banana, we cut a slit in the top and stuffed it with some marshmallows ( I put in four) and chocolate chips (I put in heaps) and then wrapped it in tin foil and wrote our names on it.

Survival backpack.

This is the survival backpack that I made for our survivor. I put in some rope, a sleeping bag, a flint and steel rod, a first aid kit, a tent, and a torch.

The easiest thing was putting in all the images and the hardest part was writing what all of the equipment was needed for.

Fabulous finish.

In the past 2 weeks, we have been working on our fabulous finish.
For my fabulous finish, I drew a track shoe with some facts about Ghost.
The hardest thing was definitely when I broke my arm because I was halfway through going over with sharpie so it was hard to keep going, but with my friend's help, I got it done!

This time for our survivor we had to answer these questions.
The hardest thing was finding the information about each question, the easiest
thing was writing it all down.

What the S.T.O.P. acronym means.

S: Stop. Whatever you are doing just pause.

T: Take a breath. Re-connect with your breath.

O: Observe. Notice what is happening. What is happening inside you,
and outside of you?

P: Plan. Think about what to do.

How to find water.

1. One way to find water is to dig a hole in the ground and
then drink from there.

2. Use any and all containers you might have on you and fill them using
flowing water.

3. Tie the corners of a tarp around trees a few feet off the ground,
place a small rock in the center to create a depression, and let the water
collect overnight.

How to make a fire.

1. Use dry wood.

2. Flint and steel rod or matches.

3. Use some dried grass as a tinder which will be one of the key
things to getting your fire started.

Build a shelter.

1. Build on high ground so that animals will have less chance of getting you.

2. Away from water that can overflow in the night.

3. Have a sheltered area to sleep in.

Basic first aid.

In your first aid kit, you will need. . . 

1.Bandages and plasters, in case you get cut.

2.Scissors, in case you need to cut something.

3. And creams, for insect bites and stings.

Signaling for help.

1. Fire Distress flares so people will be able to locate you.

2. Use smoke and fire so that the smoke will show people where you are.

3. Whistle as loud as you can because people can recognize that noise well.

Chapter Chat week five term four creation station.

This week for Chapter Chat I have done a before and after drawing of Ghosts shoes, his old cut down sneakers and his new track shoes.
The hardest thing was coloring it in and the easiest thing was drawing it.

C.C. Term 4 Week 4 A Way With Words.

This week for my Chapter Chat I have done an Acrostic poem for A Way With Words and I did one for Ghost.
I did Ghost because he is one of the main characters in our book.
the hardest thing was doing different colors and fonts and the easiest was doing the words.

Knot tying.

KNOTS

 This week we have been learning how to tie some different types of knots.
We had to do at least 3 different types of knots and I choose to do the Reef Knot, the Overhand Knot, and Figure 8 Knot.
The Overhand Knot is good for if you want to hang togs up if you go camping, the reef knot is good if you want something to be tied really sturdy, and the figure 8 knot is good for stopping a line slide out of place 
I rate the Knots that I tied a four out of five because they were simple to tie but strong.

This is my Chapter chat for Week three, Term 4.
I have done Creation Station which was doing a sketch of Coach Brody. this was one of the tasks because Coach brody is one of the main characters in the story so far.

shelter building task 2 part 2.

This is my troop and I setting up our tent to earn our badge, the hardest part about this was reading the instructions because the writing was quite small and we didn't know that there was writing until halfway through.
The thing that worked well was our team because we worked really well together and had good teamwork.
the thing that I learned that it is not very easy to put up a tent without instructions.

Shelter building task 2

One of the shelters that we are going to make will be the Tarp shelter,
it is easy to make but still very suitable to sleep in.
We reckon that it could have a few people to sleep in it. And also the Tarp shelter because it is
easy and suitable to build and sleep in.

What are their key features and why we have chosen to build them?
We all agreed on these two huts to build ( AN A-FRAME & TARP TEEPEE ).
We chose to build the TARP because it looks like it has a lot of
space and looks easy and quick to make. We chose to build the TARP (Teepee)
Because we think that more than two people will be able to fit in it,
although it might be a bit challenging to make.

Where is the best place to build a shelter?

The best place is on high ground and close to a water supply like a river but far enough away so that you don't attract bugs.

What does the shelter need to protect you from?

The shelter needs to protect you from animals like snakes and floods so it is best to build it on high grounds. You also need it to protect you from bugs and it needs to be warm.

What materials do you need to build a shelter?

To build a shelter you need trees and sticks for your structure and some leaves and ferns for the top and the sides.

Pros and cons of sleeping in a shelter?

The cons are bug bites because they could get infected easily, bad weather and freezing temperatures because it would be hard to go to sleep and sleep is one of the most important things in the wild.

The pros are sleeping outside because it would be fun and sleeping with nature.

Calf Club 2019

 

On Wednesday the 23rd of October it was Calf Club, my goat was called Gizmo. For calling I got 3rd for obstacle I got 5th for leading I got 3rd and for rearing and handling I got 5th.

The most challenging thing was definitely the weather because it was all rainy and wet which meant that they didn't do anything properly.

It was hard preparing for Calf Club because you had to brush, walk, feed, and call every single day. It made it even harder because we never had time in the morning and dad finished work at five and mum finished work around six-thirty. 

The hardest part about preparing for the day was washing the goats because the had to go through the shower and then blown with the hairdryer. 

W2 T4 Chapter Chat.

This is my Chapter Chat for term 4, week 2. I have done Research Centre which was researching famous sneaker brands like the two that I have done. I have chosen to do these brands because they are my favorite types of shoes. The hardest part was finding what facts to do and the easiest part was doing the different colours. 

Calander art 2019.

In term 3 we did our calendar art for this year. I have done me in an astronaut suit in space I drew three planets and the moon in the corner. The hardest part was coloring in the background and drawing the spacesuit. The easiest part was drawing all the planets and stars. I chose to do a space scene because it was easy but effective. Here is a picture of it.

This is my Chapter Chat for this week, I have done a Business Card on google drawings. This is one of the tasks that we could choose from because when Ghost got detention he didn't want to call his Mum because Coach Brodie made a deal with Ghost's Mum that if he screwed up in school he wouldn't be able to run on the track team so he pulled out Coach Brodies Business Card and called him Instead.
  

Holiday post!

Holidays

In the Term 3 holidays on the first Sunday, me and my family went to Tauranga for the teacher's games to support my dad. He was doing a run-up Mount Maunganui. 

We had to leave from home at 8:00 so that we would be able to make it there on time. It took about 2 hours to drive there. After Dad had finished the race all of us went up.
At the start, of the walk, we found a sign that said Oscar 'Kia ora I'm Oscar'. Here are some photos.

Fab finish.

This is my Fabulous Finish for the book holes, Janko and I made a before and an After of camp green lake. We did this because it had changed a lot. we did three flaps, one of the rec room which had a couch a table tennis table a pool table and a dodge ball court with trampoline's one was of the tent which had a bed and on the before side we did Sam's boat, Sam was one of the characters in the book. The hardest part for me was coloring because it took a really long time.

This is my Chapter Chat for this week, this was one of the tasks that we could choose from because Stanley and Zero found it in one of the holes that they dug. We smudged it to make it look more realistic. In the chest, we have put gold, diamonds, and gems. I did this task with Janko.

This is my Chapter Chat for week 6 term 3 I have done vocab challenge I have put the word (left), google's explanation (middle) and then I have put it in a sentence (right), the hardest part was putting in my explanation because I had to take in information from the google explanation and put it into my own words.

Digital Design Week 4 Term 3.

This is my wanted poster for Kate Barlow I wrote the law that she broke, what she smells like, the reward and that people could capture her dead or alive, I did this task with Janko. Kate Barlow is wanted because she shot the Sheriff and is now one of the most feared outlaws of all the west.

This is my chapter chat for this week my task was to make an invention, I made a vacuum cleaner that has a portal that goes from the vacuum cleaner to the bin using portals. This was one of the tasks because Stanley's dad is an inventor, I named my invention the portalizer.

This is me and Ollie's fabulous finish we did Travis next to his jeep the wheels are made out of cardboard with paper towels over them then we painted them, we have also got a flap on the door with all of his tools as well as that we made a logo for his company we also did an oil stain on his shirt.

This is my fish in a tree book cover that I have made for the week, It took quite a long time to make because I had to screenshot each letter by themselves, I did neon letters for the name of the book and the author's name in graffiti.

Chapter Chat.

This is my killer whale for chapter chat. I have done this on my own using parts of other orca whales that I have found, we had to create this because Albert asked Ally if she would rather be in a tank with a stonefish or a killer whale and Ally said obviously a stonefish but a stonefish is a lot more dangerous, and then he told Ally that names sometimes change the thought of people.

This is the Eiffel tower that I have drawn for book buzz it has 13 facts about the Eiffel Tower with a drawing of it. Some of the facts that I found out were pretty interesting.

 this is my chapter chat for week three, term 2 I have done the vocab challenge, I did this with Patrick. We made a game where we wrote the word on one side and the meaning on the other and then we showed the word and the other person had to try and guess the meaning of it.
