Case Closed

Today we got Mrs Taaffe to come in again, we told her the evidence that we had found. After we had told her all of the evidence she confessed to taking the HDMI cable and a few chocolates. But she said that she grabbed the HDMI cable because her chrome cast wasn't working and while she was grabbing it she got some chocolates as well. The reason that she hid behind the bushes was to see if the door had shut fully, and the reason that she ran out, was because she thought someone was coming.

I am good at middle distance and for the 800m I came 1st.

2020 Whetu crime scene.

When we came to school on Monday there was a crack in the door and some blood on the floor. we have to find out who broke in and stole the milky ways. So far we haven't found out much but we've had a look around the scene and now we are detectives. We have all made a detective badge with our avatar. We have also drawn out the scene and wrote down the things that we know. If we did that we got a badge. I think everyone has got a badge so far.

Whetū Workshops Reflection

During Term 2 and 3 the Whetū students have had the opportunity to be involved in a range of different workshops.

The workshop that I have enjoyed participating in the most has been the P.E. in Term 2, because I like to do active things.

The new learning that I have learnt is that if you do little drops of water on a coin the water will just get higher for a while and then fall after about 40-50 drops.

What I have most enjoyed about the workshops is that we can learn things that we didn’t already know.

I am interested in learning more about science because you are always learning new things about a variety of random topics.

An aim I have for my learning is to put more things on my blog every week and not just the must do’s. I don’t think that I have been putting enough on my blog lately.

Whetu Challenge - Paper Planes

Today our challenge was to design an accurate paper plane. We were given a draft piece
of paper to trial and a good piece to use once we had tested the accuracy of it.

Before we started I thought this challenge was going to be hard because it was a small
place for it to land.

I decided to use the design of a small plane that was folded up heaps.

The hardest part was making the actual plane because I am not very good at making
things like that.

During our competition time, I managed to score 26 points, I got one in the hanger (20), one
on the 2 and one on the 4.

Tennis ball tower challenge.

Tennis Ball Tower Challenge

Today for our Whetu Challenge we worked in a group to build a tower out of newspaper,
2 straws, and sellotape. We needed to make our tower strong enough to hold a tennis
ball and be able to stand alone (not leaning on anything or needing support).

Today I worked with Christopher and Cody.

At first, we had trouble with sticking everything together with the tape.

The easiest thing was cutting the sellotape because it is thin.

The best part of our tower was that it was the 4th tallest out of all the other towers.

Our tower looked really skinny with some support at the top and a holder with a piece
of newspaper at the top.

In the end, it looked pretty cool although we couldn't balance a tennis ball on it.

Week 1 reflection.

My highlight this week has been seeing my friends and playing manhunt with them.

The thing that I was most nervous about was that I might forget something.

For the dress-up day I dressed up as a colour and the colour was blue even my hair and
the shoes that I was wearing were blue.

The funniest thing has happened this week is that there were dolphins in the piako on the
first day of school.

I think the best-dressed person was Seth because he had a massive wig on.
